There is such a fine line between confidence, self belief and self love and being arrogant, egotistical and vain.
For me, I believe developing and being confident, having belief in yourself that you are capable of anything and loving and accepting yourself is vital to leading a truly happy and fulfilling life. I believe it is important to know your worth, to know that you’re capable of something and complete things to the best of your ability and be confident that you have done or produced something good. I believe it is important to wake up and not immediately hate who you see in the mirror. I believe it is important to speak to ourselves with kindness ann’s gratitude – in a way that we would speak to our friends – I mean after all we are technically our own bestest friends. I believe it is important to turn up for yourself, be there for yourself, to not let yourself down again and again. I believe you need to view yourself as a blessing, a gift, as someone amazing, the best there could be, I believe it is important to have faith in yourself and trust. I believe it is important to have confidence, self belief and love for yourself.
However, I do not believe in allowing or turning this confidence, self belief or love get twisted and turn into something that will send us in the opposite direction. Being overly confident and arrogant can mean that you no longer try or put effort in to your work, relationships, life etc because you believe you don’t need to – that is stupid. Letting your self belief turn into being egotistical will also send you in the wrong direction and will help no one, including yourself. And loving yourself in a way that can only be described as vanity is not attractive, or in your best interest either.
Therefore, what I am saying is that you must find the balance.
You must learn to be confident in who you are, what you look like and the things you do. You must believe in your strength, your will power, you intelligence, your capabilities and you must develop an acceptance of yourself that turns into love, just like loving a friend – a compassionate, empathetic, beautiful love.
Do not let that confidence, belief and love become jaded and corrupted otherwise it will no longer serve you.
