Whether we like it or not, we are all involved and a part of politics. If we choose not to partake in political discussions, we are making an active decision to do so and therefore reflecting our opinion and still having an effect through being a bystander or ‘neutral’.
It is important to have an opinion and it is important to care. You don’t have to go around sharing it with the world and making it known to every person what your views are but you should sit down and find out exactly what you believe and why. Educate yourself on topics that matter. Do your research so that you are well informed and therefore have a solid and strong standpoint that you can share and explain when the time is right.
Topics like racism, sexism, equality, homophobia, humanitarian aid and issues, genocide etc are not that things that you should simply be ‘neutral’ on.
Go and do your research, find evidence and statistics and professional opinions and facts and form an opinion. Then you have the chance to make a difference through your behaviour and actions and how you share this knowledge with others.
