LIFE IS YOUR MOVIE

We’ve all heard the saying ‘Life is a movie’ before and joke about doing ‘things for the plot’ etc and some use it as a coping mechanism for when life isn’t going too well.

I personally think it’s actually quite a good tool to use for viewing life. Each of our lives is our own individual movie. The difference from real life films is that we are not just the actors playing the role of the male characters, we are also the directors and the cinematographers and the technicians. We are the ones in charge of our movie and how it plays out. Now, ofcourse we cannot control every thing that happens to us and there may be some surprises thrown at us during the movie due to other people, circumstances, fate, God, the universe – whatever you believe. However we are in complete control of how we choose to act and move forward.

Our lives are like a movie because there will always be highs and lows, amazing points and not so amazing points, brilliant people and cruel people etc.

Having a reminder in the back of your head that your life is like a movie and you are playing the main character AND directing it gives you a sense of power and autonomy. It also reminds you to choose what type of movie you want your life to be. Will it be a boring and dull documentary that never should have been made? Will it be an action/thriller where things are happening non stop? Will it be a romance – a tale of someone who is loving and kind to all? Or will it be a heartbreaker, where the crying never stops?

Pick and live your movie.
