What’s your dream job?
Throughout my life, the idea that I must find what I ‘like’ to do or am good at it, find a stable career in it and work my way up sighing that career and remain in it for the rest of my life has been ingrained into my head. Through school, teachers, society, social media, other friends and family. Society seems to hold the mindset that this is what you MUST do in life. And yet all I see is the majority of these people depressed, living paycheck to paycheck, not truly fulfilled, bored, unstimulated and stuck. That will not be me.
I am aware that there are people who enjoy their jobs and are fulfilled by what they do – of which I am glad to hear as this is what we should be aiming for.
For me, I have never understood why people confine themselves to 1 occupation, or skill or field of work when the world is so big and there are so many opportunities.
I have dreams and goals of what I want to achieve in life, which includes running a successful business/movement as my major priority. However, I also like to sing and make music so I may produce music one day. I love kids and helping others so I may do teaching abroad. I love animals and am passionate about protecting them so I may volunteer or work at animal sanctuary. I am interested in various practices and things like fitness, nutrition and bodily therapies so I may do a course in either or multiple of these things and use that to build a career.
There are literally endless opportunities. – why confine yourself at such a young age to 1 avenue.
Having multiple jobs and not selecting one area does not make you a failure. It does not make you any less of a successful and happy person than someone with only 1 avenue of work. Each to their own. But find what you love and enjoy and are good at – and if that is multiple things THEN DO MULTIPLE THINGS WITHIN YOUR LIFE. You could do 1 at a time or merge a few things at once. Figure out what works for you. But don’t fall into the trap that society has made.
You have free will. Use it. You have passion. Use it. You have skills. Use them. You have talents. Use it.
