LOOKING AFTER YOURSELF

I am currently reading Jordan Petersons book and in this he talks about how willing we are to do anything for others – for example our pets, but not ourselves. This comes from a long history of shame and guilt from humans towards our nature, bodies etc (derived from Adam & Eve but that is a whole other story). He essentially highlights how we are willing to take care of our pets and animals as we know they are innocent and need our help but don’t believe that we deserve the same care and love ourselves – so therefore neglect and don’t look after ourselves.

I would like to highlight that you deserve to be taken care of – by yourself and others – but yourself first. You deserve to live a healthy life, you deserve to have a fit body, you deserve to be loved for who you are. You deserve to have some time out to go onto a run or go to the gym or practice a sport. You deserve to have that knee surgery. You deserve to have that self care night that you’ve been wanting desperately for weeks. You deserve it all.

Taking care of yourself, physically, mentally and spiritually is so important to our overall happiness, longevity and general quality of life. It is also your responsibility to do so. No one can do it for you.

So take care of yourself – in any manner that is best for you. Do something today that shows yourself you care.
