Gonna make this post a bit more personal and base it around me finding who I was and finally being my authentic self. I think this is an important message.
Throughout my teen years, I think I was partly my self, perhaps in front of my closest friends and family, but I was so consumed by sadness and not letting people see my sadness but also trying to fit in and not be different.
Let me just describe myself a little so you can 1) understand better and 2) get to know me a little better. I am bubbly, loud (excruciatingly so), happy, joyful, positive, crazy (slightly insane), weird and random, caring and loving, with a slight bit of a temper (which I have been working on).
It wasn’t until around November 2022 that I truly started to realise who I was and that who I was WAS JUST PERFECT AS SHE WAS. I met someone who was pretty much the male version of me, and when in his presence I felt a feeling I had never felt. I just felt completely and totally like MYSELF. I felt like I could say whatever, do whatever, be whatever and not have to hold back or change/edit myself. This was life changing for me because I have never gone back. I feel that I become more and more like myself every day.
Now this can be a confusing topic because what truly is your self? Is there even a self? We could argue about this for years. However, my point is that when you feel complete, whole and free – that is YOU.
Surround yourself with people who make you feel like being you is okay, or better than okay and then go out into the world and be that person. Not everyone will like you, but that doesn’t mean that you should not be that person. That simply means that you do not align with that person – there are millions of others who you will align with.
Now, I don’t want to confuse you being 100% who you are and not changing FOR anyone with changing and growing throughout your life. You can still be who you are deep down – with the same personality and character, but develop and change your mind, body, values, traits, ideas and beliefs. It may be that who you are now is not who you will be in the future. That is also okay. Do not become attached to ‘who you are’ just BE IT.
Just be.
